Located on South Oakes, the Coop Gallery was named in honor of the late Roger Allen, founder of the Old Chicken Farm Art Center and longtime SAMFA supporter.

Mission driven space Coop Gallery is open for rent to students and their teachers, and to emerging artists for exhibitions, installations and performances. Art exhibitions are announced on the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts website.

The Gallery’s rectangular 1,056 Sq. Ft. open space has track lighting and natural light through several windows. (no restroom)
The Coop Gallery welcomes community rentals for varied Events such as meetings, book readings and signings, chamber music concerts, and more, when an art exhibition is not on display.

The Coop’s Standing Capacity is approximately 80, depending on the exhibition layout.
The Coop’s Seating Capacity (chairs only) is 120.
The Coop’s Seating Capacity with tables and chairs is 60.
The Coop Gallery is equipped for artwork display. Please contact the curatorial department for specifics.

 

Art Exhibitions

K-12 School Groups: Free

Angelo State University Students: Free with valid student ID.

Rental Rate for Artists: $ 75 /half day (4 hrs.)

or $ 150 /full day Friday, Saturday, SAMFA exhibition opening nights.

Security Deposit: $100

 

Non-exhibition Functions

Rental Rate for non-exhibition purposes: $ 100 /half day (4 hrs.)

or $ 150 /full day Friday and Saturday

$ 75/ half day or $100/ full day Sunday through Thursday

Security Deposit: $100

 

 

Exhibitions at the Coop require approval.
To submit an exhibition proposal, download the form, fill it in, and email to the curatorial department.

Deposit and full payment (if applicable) for the exhibition is due before the exhibition can be installed.
A Museum exhibition tech may assist in coordinating the art installation but is not responsible for installing the exhibition. A ladder available for renters use. Depending on availability, SAMFA may provide pedestals requested on the exhibition proposal. SAMFA has pedestals of various sizes and shapes, and cocktail tables and folding chairs. All items provided by the Museum should be returned in good condition.

No Museum staff supervises the gallery during the exhibition. The Lessee is responsible for staffing the Gallery during their Event. Lessee will turn off interior lights (except for security lighting) and the air-conditioner/heater at the end of the business day or time of daily use. Do not leave ac/heat going overnight. Lessee is responsible for making sure chairs and tables are brought in at the end of each day.

Keys to the gallery can be picked up the morning of the first day of the Rental.

Lessee is responsible for all signage relating to hours that their Exhibit is open and contact information regarding the exhibit on display.

SAMFA is not responsible for the damage or loss of the artwork or personal property in the Coop Gallery. It is recommended that the Lessee insures the artworks in the exhibition while in the Gallery.

Full rental fee payment is due before the exhibition can be installed and before keys can be given to Renter. Keys can be picked up the morning of the first day of the Rental.

The gallery must be cleared of all of Lessee’s belongings and empty by the end of the Rental. Renter is responsible for general cleanup and removal of debris. This includes throwing away any trash into the Museum’s dumpster after the Event. The dumpster is located on the right side of the main Art Museum and the gate is not locked. It may be utilized for disposal of non-hazardous debris.

Gallery space and SAMFA’s property must be left in good condition and keys should be returned for deposit to be returned. SAMFA may retain part or all of the Security Deposit if the above requirements are not met.
