For the Love of Music is in essence a tribute to the various cultural organizations within the community and a recognition of the fact that the different art forms depend on and influence each other. Many artists are inspired by music and thus all of the work on display depicts in some way music or theater or dance. A number of the works in this exhibit are from the museum's collection. In addition some pieces are on loan from the Old Jail Art Museum, Albany, Texas and from private collections.
In addition, the exhibit will feature the painted violins that were created
by 16 area artists. "The Painted Violin
Project" is a collaborative fundraising and education effort by the
San Angelo Symphony and the Museum of Fine Arts. The violins, which the artists
painted during the month of December, were officially unveiled on January
11th and have been on view at various locations in San Angelo since then.
The exhibit For the Love of Music will be the final venue to see the violins
before they are auctioned off at a special Valentine's dinner and dance which
is set to take place at the Museum on Saturday, February 10th.
