Jade
Norris- Museum Educator, and Joy Noguess- Graphic Designer, attended
the Pachyderm Users Conference in Austin in December 2006. This event involved
training in a multimedia authoring tool which will enhance the experience
of the educational components of our website. Pictured

Odessa, and Jade Norris, Museum Educator of SAMFA manned the West Texas
Triangle booth during the TAM Conference.
Jade and Joy also attended the 2007 Texas Association of Museums (TAM) Conference in Austin in April. Jade was elected treasurer of the Texas Association of Museums Education Committee. Howard chaired and participated in several sessions. This trip was made possible by a generous sponsorship from Anne Williams.
In May, Howard Taylor and Jade Norris attended the
American Association of Museums Annual Conference in Chicago. Jade and Howard
attended numerous workshops and took in the sights, sounds, and museums
of the Windy City. This opportunity was also made possible thanks to Anne
Williams.
In July Howard Taylor attended the Board of Director's retreat of the American Association of Museums in Seattle. He was elected to the board this past year.
Museum Preparator John Mattson has recently been showing his paintings
at different venues around the country. In 2006 he was included in the national
juried show, "Stretched Tight" at Target Gallery in Alexandria,
VA. He also participated in the exhibit "Found and Recycled" at
the Appleton Art Center in Appleton, WI and was one of the artists in "Texas
Paint Part II: Out of Abstraction" curated 
by
Anne Allen at the Arlington Museum of Art in Arlington, TX.
In 2007 he and Museum Collections Manager Karen Zimmerly both exhibited
their work, paintings and photography, in the South Texas University Art
Gallery in McAllen, Texas and gave a gallery talk to faculty and students.
