2 tone, the eclectic musical group headed by jazz harpist, Cindy Horstman, and bass player, Michael Medina, has reached out to all age groups with their interpretation of jazz. Their music blends traditional styles drawing from jazz, pop, and Latin with new, innovative sounds and harmonies that are pleasing to the ear. 2 tone has been touring nationwide for 12 years performing for festivals, universities, and concert series. The group has released 8 CDs that are receiving radio airplay across the country.
Harpist Cindy Horstman is a classically trained musician and holds a Master of Music degree in Harp Performance from the University of Texas at Austin. Cindy has earned many accolades including:

After her prize winning performance in the Lyon Healy International Jazz Harp
Competition, Cindy, along with bassist Michael Medina, formed the Jazz Harp
Group 2 tone, which has played for many distinguished figures, including President
Clinton and Wynton Marsalis. You can hear Cindy and 2 tone at various festivals
and concerts around the United States and on radio stations around the country.
Bassist Michael Medina, a native of Beeville, Texas moved to Dallas in 1978
and graduated from North Texas State University. His studio work includes
national and local television and radio spots as well as numerous recordings
with various artists. Michael owns the record production company "First
Bass Productions", which produces Cindy Horstman's CDs and is a co-member
of the touring harp & bass duo, 2 tone.
In addition to their recital on Sunday, November 18 2 tone will hold a children's
music workshop at 3:00 p.m. at the museum on Saturday, November 17, 2007.
Cindy and Michael will talk about their instruments and demonstrate musical
techniques about jazz and other music. Following the musical presentation
a hands-on art activity with a musical theme will be available to those attending.
Refreshments will be served. The workshop is free. The museum asks that an
adult accompany children coming to the workshop.
